Olivia von Halle has always striven for the absolute best practice when sourcing, manufacturing and retailing its garments and has ensured that its supplier’s social and environmental policies are in line with its own.

All Olivia von Halle suppliers must sign the Olivia von Halle Factory Agreement and undertake a compliance visit by the Founder and CEO Olivia von Halle. This code of conduct has strict standards regarding:

  • Legal compliance
  • Freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining
  • Prohibition of discrimination
  • Compensation
  • Working hours
  • Workplace health and safety
  • Prohibition of child labour
  • Prohibition of forced labour and disciplinary measures
  • Environment and safety issues
  • Management systems
  • Animal ethics

All silk used in Olivia von Halle garments has been produced exclusively for the brand and therefore strict chemical standards must be adhered to. Olivia von Halle works closely with a Regulatory Affairs Consultant who ensures that everything used in the production of its fabrics are safe and approved for global use.

Olivia von Halle personally oversees all production for her brand and spends around one month a year at its suppliers’ factories in Hangzhou, China. These personal visits mean she can guarantee that production has been undertaken in an approved factory and not outsourced to another location that may not meet the rigorous standards set.

In recognition of this, in 2013 Olivia von Halle was awarded the ‘Blue Butterfly Trust Mark’, which is given to brands and companies that have a positive impact on people and the planet.

“It is a privilege to work with a company that takes such pride in establishing responsible production throughout their value chain. Olivia von Halle’s commitment to integrating a positive impact with luxury craftsmanship is most definitely something to be applauded and learnt from,” says Founder and CEO of Positive Luxury, Diana Verde Nieto.

Positive Luxury consistently evaluates potential and existing brands and companies by demanding a set of quality standards as well as social, environmental and philanthropic efforts. The meticulous criteria by which they select and accept members are annually reviewed and revised to adapt to the changing landscape and consumer expectation of brands.

Positive Luxury has developed the Blue Butterfly application process with the supervision of its advisory board – comprising of leading sustainability and communication professionals across many industries. The application process is designed to cover many areas of the business from sourcing to marketing.  They recognise the efforts that member brands are making and highlight them as best practices for their respective industries.

The Blue Butterfly trust mark is instantly recognisable and trusted by people. All products or websites awarded with the Blue Butterfly mean that the company is making significant investment and improvement in bettering society and the environment.

“We are thrilled to have been awarded this hugely respected trust mark. We have always striven for the absolute best practice when sourcing, manufacturing and retailing our garments and have ensured that our supplier’s social and environmental policies are in line with our own. We are very proud to be part of Positive Luxury and are sure our customers will feel the same way,” said Olivia von Halle, Founder and CEO.
