Silk is rightly called the queen of textiles for its lustre, royal appeal, luxury, comfort, elegance, sensuousness and glamor. Silk's natural beauty and properties of comfort in warm weather and retention of warmth during winters have made it a sought-after fibre for high-fashion clothing.
The natural fibers in silk have excellent properties that will prolong the time you can wear it without washing - silk is moisture-wicking and anti-bacterial.
Our garments are made to the highest possible standards. We are proud to produce the collection in Hangzhou, which is traditionally the world centre for silk production and the start of the silk road. Our garments undertake a massive quality control inspection, with each piece being checked for over 60 different measurements and potential issues. As our garments are often dyed using vivid colours, all of our silks have been tested for colour fastness to ensure the colour will not bleed.
All of our garments are designed in-house by out design team, in our townhouse studio in London. We design all of our prints exclusively in-house each season.
Here are just some of the reasons we use silk in all our products...
Helps maintain a comfortable temperature
Beneficial for sensitive skin
Completely biodegradable
Designed to be treasured forever
Care instructions tailored to each of our products can be found on every product page, but for a general overview on how to care for any of our fabrications, please follow the links below
We recommend always hand washing your OvH in cool water - this will preserve the life of the garment and the saturation of its colour.
We're not suggesting you stop washing your silk pieces altogether, but you probably don't need to wash them as much as you think you do. Try spot cleaning them where needed and then airing them - silk is a beautifully breathable, natural fibre and so managing your pieces in this way will prolong the time you can go between washes. Of course, it's also much better for the planet!
We recommend using a specialist silk detergent.
Olivia loves using The Laundress Delicate Wash.
In reality, we know from experience these items can sometimes end up in the machine. We don't recommend you wash your OvH this way, but if you trust your washing machine and usually wash your delicates in it, these are our tips.
It is very important that you use a specialist silk detergent. Olivia loves using Clothes Doctor Eco Wash for Silk
Non-specialist detergents often contain harsh chemicals that can damage the colour and finish of silk and cashmere garments.
Please choose a gentle 'hand wash' cycle and set the temperature to cold if there is no staining, up to 20C if there are light stains and 30C if there are any stubborn marks. Never wash delicate fabrics over 30C. The cooler the water the longer the silk will last and the better it will feel coming out of the machine. Avoid using any stain removers.
Hang your silks to air dry and never put any of your OvH in the tumble dryer.
Iron or steam your OvH to restore lustre and sheen to the silk. Use your iron's delicate or lowest heat setting.
Iron on the reverse side of your garment. If you need to iron directly on the front, place a cotton cloth over the area to protect the silk.
Our cotton-silk nightwear is crafted from a cotton-silk blend. Cotton's breathable nature allows air to circulate around the skin, providing a better night's sleep. It doesn't cling to the skin and is soft to the touch and lightweight.

Never put your cashmere away dirty - moths eat microscopic particles of skin on clothes. Keep worn but clean items on a separate chair in your room and wash after every three to four wears.
Always store your cashmere flat and folded, do not hang. If hung it will stretch and lose it's shape over time.
Use a de-bobbler or cashmere comb to reinvigorate your pieces and remove any pilling that occurs over time.
