Behind the Scenes at The House of Koko

Our luxury loungewear offers a dose of pure escapism year-round, but for The Paradisea Collection campaign we knew we’d need an appropriately heavenly location (even if it was a little closer to home).

Having first opened in Camden 122 years ago, KOKO is home to an incredible music legacy, hosting everyone from Charlie Chaplin, Prince and Madonna to Lady Gaga, The Rolling Stones and Dua Lipa. Following a three-year restoration and redevelopment, the venue reopened in April 2022 complete with the introduction of The House of KOKO, a new members’ club backstage, sprawling across four beautiful floors all connected to the theatre.

Created by Founder and Creative Director Olly Bengough in collaboration with the design team behind Chiltern Firehouse, members are invited to slip backstage, and lose themselves among a maze of secret passageways and stunning spaces. Thoughtful references to the Grade II listed buildings’ rich cultural heritage can be seen everywhere in playful, thoughtful design details, and there are seemingly endless spaces to explore, including a glorious roof terrace restaurant, Penthouse studio, library, secret speakeasy, and Stage Kitchen restaurant. The Dome now inhabits a cathedral-like cocktail bar (with its own secret staircase to gods of the theatre), vinyl rooms reminiscent of a train carriage lie hidden behind a secret door, and a private dining room overlooks the theatre stage; it’s an immersive adventure like no other. The interiors, too – think pink marble, dark walnut, low lighting, and verdant greenery - call to mind the opulence and smoky splendour of a lost age.

It’s quickly become a home away from home for a creative community who work, entertain, relax and play at The House. A cultural programme entertains with everything from health and wellbeing to NFTs, design and films - while artists drop by for impromptu jam sessions, DJs spin records all weekend and notorious house parties have been known to continue into the early hours of the morning.

Art is as integral to the culture here as is music, and the walls are filled with an enviable collection of contemporary artworks curated by Katie Heller and owner and Creative Director, Olly Bengough. Some of our favourites include pieces by Rachel Whiteread, Yoko Ono, Frank Auerbach, Sahara Longe and Hannah Quinlan, while a collection of photographs from Dennis Ridgers’ archive recall iconic 1980s performances from the new romantic era.

We couldn’t have imagined a place that spoke to our designs better. We shot the campaign across The House of KOKO, making use of its beautiful private dining room and Battens bar, as well as its secretive hallways and intimate vinyl rooms.

Infused with a love of culture and music, and primed for hosting the best parties (and after parties) for those-in-the-know, there’s nowhere we’d rather be dancing, dining or whiling away our days and nights (silk clad, of course). Whether it’s intimate jazz performances after dark, cocktails beneath the twinkling lights of the glass-topped Roof Terrace, or Sunday lunch with the family; this is The House to make yourself at home in.
